ABC Design Salsa 5 Run: how to choose the right Starter Set?
Joggers are often associated with sports – of course, they’re great for running and roller skating, but the ABC Design Salsa 5 Run stroller is so much more. Salsa 5 Run has a choice of three different sets, so that every parent can choose the one that best suits their needs.
Use of the jogger with baby from birth
- Starter Set
It is 3-in-1 set, perfect for those who do not yet have a stroller or carrycot. The set includes a Salsa 5 Run frame, carrycot, organiser, ABC Design Tulip car seat, bassinet adapters and a seat that can be used with your baby from the age of 6. In addition to the starter set, we also recommend the Tulip car seat for your car. Isofix base Root– rotates 360 degrees and is also compatible with the child’s next car seat Lily.
- Stroller Set
Sometimes the baby’s first car seat has already been purchased before the stroller is chosen. In this case, we recommend that parents consider Salsa 5 Run 2-in-1 stroller set. The set includes a Salsa 5 Run frame, a carrycot, an organiser and a seat. With the ABC Design car seat adapters, you can also use other brands of car seats on the stroller frame (we always recommend that you check suitability or bring the stroller with you to the showroom to try it out).
Salsa 5 Run - advantages and specific features
Joggers often have a fixed direction of drive – the child must sit facing in the direction of drive. There is a reason for this, when doing sports, the child must be in a sitting position facing the road to ensure safety. The Salsa 5 Run is a sports licensed stroller.
Most of the time, however, the stroller is used for walking, and especially when the child is small, he or she wants to see their parent in the stroller. However, this is not possible in a fixed forward-facing position. The team at ABC Design has thought of this and the Salsa 5 Run seat can be raised for strolling , either face-first or rear-facing. We’ve noticed that this is also one of the most important features for parents when choosing a stroller.
The Salsa 5 Run’s rear wheel brake is mounted on a push bar, typical of a sports joggers. With a light press, you can brake momentum and lock the rear wheels if desired. Thanks to this, there is also no axle between the rear wheels for taller parents to kick when walking or running.
In winter conditions, the Salsa 5 Run is no slouch with 3 large air-suspended wheels under the frame. In thick snow or when driving on uneven roads, we recommend locking the front wheel so that it’s straight and doesn’t spin. The 3-wheeler is even preferred by many in winter, as there are one less wheel to push through the snow.
Use of a jogger with a child from the age of 6 months onwards
- Salsa 5 Run running and walking stroller
With both the starter set and the stroller set, the jogger can be used with a baby from birth. However, if your baby is born in the spring or early summer and you are initially getting around in a lightweight stroller, for example, we recommend the Salsa 5 Run with seat for the winter period, which does not have a carrycot or car seat.
The carrycot is usually used with babies until they are 6 months old, but some baby like to take naps in it from 9-12 months. The seat can carry up to 22kg, which means that the pram has a lifespan of around 4-5 years. We also recommend a ABC Design
There are also some important points to note when it comes to sports performance strollers. The Salsa 5 Run may only be ridden with the seat in the sporting position, and the seat must not be in a reclined position and must be positioned facing in the direction of travel. The child must be wearing safety belts and the parent must use the safety strap around the wrist. These measures are necessary to keep the child safe in the jogger while exercising.
Considering that there are at least 8 months of darkness per year in Scandinavia, it is definitely worth getting 1 or even 2 LED lamps to keep you and your child visible in the countryside and on city streets.
The different Salsa 5 Run sets and accessories are available in the Hummy showrooms and online shop.
How should I look after my stroller in winter?
Snow and ice can be tough on your stroller, so it needs extra care during the winter season. Salt on the streets and pavements is necessary for safety but can leave marks on your stroller. Be sure to clean the salt off your stroller after a winter walk. Water works well for this. Moving parts such as the wheels are under a lot of stress in winter. Don’t forget to oil them regularly to ensure a comfortable ride. This applies not only to winter maintenance, but also to year-round maintenance. Use silicone-free oils for this purpose. In addition, check reflective strips for damage and wear before dark and replace them if necessary.
With good preparation, you can enjoy the promise of winter. And if you’re looking to do some winter shopping before the first snow, feel free to contact the experts at Hummy.
We wish you a wonderful winter season.
